When I was born, my mother and father spent a whole
night seeking for a given name for me. There were two
challenges to find out the name. The first one was this
name mustn't have a nickname; and the second one was
this name must inspire respect.
Finally, they had come to an agreement to Abdarrahman
first name. The agent in the birth office who was in charge
to register new-borns, in his register, had jotted down
Abderrahman and a random day of birth.
Abderrahman as a word doesn't signify anything. It was
set up with 'e' in order to give it a French sound. But
Abdurrahman does. It means a servant of the Merciful.
The letter 'u' is used when It is a subject in a
sentence, 'a' when it is an object and 'i' in other cases.
Before I met Maria, My name had been the best word in
the world. The problem is that she cannot pronounce it
correctly and she often seemed ashamed of it. The truth is
that it didn't appeal to her to make any effort to speak this
strange way. ' It isn't music to my ears, after all," she had
thought.
As far as I am concerned, that hadn't put me through the
mill at all. Indeed, since I am singing another tune and want
to wear a brand new identity, everything ought to be changed,
to be brand new as well, namely my name of course.
Aftermath, I wanted a new name for me. It was really
overwhelming to have freedom to choose a name
for myself. Something from me and for me, finally!
Let's bygones be bygones.
I looked up every literature that I had available around me.
I wanted something that rings a bell, something that Maria
could pronounce easily, something that wouldn't entail to her
taking a lot of nerve to say.
I am not here to apply the best defence is the best offence
technique to defend some principles. I am a kind of person that
take things easy, someone who want to be loved. Above all,
I am greedy to live avoiding headaches for me and taking care
for my portfolio. That's it.
That's settled. From now on, I am Ben. Ben Adam.
Really, I am a magnificent guy, smart and well-disciplined.
