bandwidth
Bandwidth is the capacity of a wired or
wireless network communications link to transmit
the maximum amount of data from one point to another
over a computer network or internet connection in a
given amount of time, usually one second.
Bandwidth is also defined as a range within a
band of frequencies or wavelengths.
In other words, the term bandwidth
refersto the volume of information per unit
of time that a transmission medium (like an
internet connection) can handle.
An internet connection with a larger bandwidth
can move a set amount of data (say, a video file) much
faster than an internet connection with a lower bandwidth.
While bandwidth is traditionally expressed in bits
per second (bps), modern network links have greater capacity,
which is typically measured in millions of bits per second
(megabits per second, or Mbps) or billions of bits per
second (gigabits per second, or Gbps).
Bandwidth describes the data transfer rate . Bandwidth
is not a measure of network speed, which is
a common misconception.
The wireless technology advancement involve ,
large bandwidth . We go from 2G, 3G and
4G/LTE which is up to 10 times faster than 3G.
LTE stands for Long-Term Evolution
. It is a standard for high-speed wireless communication
for mobile devices and data terminals. It is
4G technology Génération
based on the 2G and 3G technologies.
The theoretical bandwidth (speed) of 4G-LTE is supposed
to be 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload
But practical itis around 40 Mbps.
Measuring the bandwidth of a device
Here is an example showing the download
and the upload bandwidth of a computer:
a) Using AT&T Internet Speed Test :
http://speedtest.att.com/speedtest/
Download Speed: 12.06 Mbps
(1507.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 3.97 Mbps
(496.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 41 ms
b) Using Bell Internet Speed Test

The bandwidth is a fixed amount of a streaming
information that travel between the internet
and the used devise. Adding other download ou upload
requests to the network will get just their portion
of the full capacity. So the available bandwidth
will be split between requests and devices.
N.B. To stream is to transmit or receive (data,
especially video and audio material) over the Internet
as a steady, continuous flow.
Since there are 8 bits (b) in a byte (B) ,
we will have 1 MBps = 8 x 1 Mbps . For example
20 MBs and 20 Mbs (note the lowercase b).
The first reads as 20 megaBYTES while
the second is 20 megaBITS.
The term latency refers to any delay
typically incurred in the processing of network
data. A low latency network connection is one that
experiences small delay times, while
a high latency connection suffers from long delays.
When loading a webpage, for example, often
we can observe a noticeable delay
from the time we enter the address to the time
the page begins loading.
What's a brandband ?
The term broadband refers to any type
of signal transmission technique, either wired or
wireless, that carries two or more different types
of data in separate channels.
As it is a brand band, that is a brand bandwidth,
it refers then also to any high-speed internet
connection.
Brandband is brand bandwidth.
