Viber Messenger App

Viber is a VoIP tool that allows smartphone users to make free voice and video calls among them worldwide and to share free instant messages with multimedia attachments.

It is one of the most popular communication apps in certain regions of the world, but is and has always remained in the shadow of Skype and WhatsApp.

With above five hundred million users , Viber is one of the key players on the market. It uses your mobile number to identify you on the network and allows you to communicate using VoIP for free bypassing your mobile carrier.

In December 2013, Viber officially launched Viber Out , a feature that provides users the option to call mobile and landline numbers via VoIP without the need for the application.

The application allows unlimited free voice and video calls and text messages to other Viber users.
Viber also allows to post and send photos and map locations.

Viber Out allows to make calls to non-Viber, landline and mobile numbers at cheaper VoIP rates .

The app is available for most platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.

On Viber, no need to register with username and password or aliases; we use our mobile phone number.

Although, Viber with a couple hundred million users, and its cheap calling to landline and mobile numbers, its popularity is decreasing, its quality is relatively poorer than Skype and WhatsApp, and it does not offer secure and private communication.

The app isn’t very heavy on resources and installs quite quickly. It can be run in the background, taking advantage of the multitasking possibility of new smartphones.

Viber does not use the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) service to channel the calls and messages. we will need to have Internet connection through either Wi-Fi or 3G.

• Things will remain free if you use Wi-Fi, with chances of maintained good call quality, but you will then be terribly limited in mobility.

• When you use 3G on the move, take into consideration that you would be paying for each megabyte of data used on your data plan.

Viber also has a version for desktop and laptop computers, such that you can remain connected while on your computer.

Viber Media was founded in 2010 in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 2014, it is bought for $900 millions by Rakuten, the Japanese online trading giant.
